ARTIST STATEMENT
My name is Jaime Davis and I’m a small-town artist located in the River Valley. When I was a child, I would watch my Mother draw pictures and was amazed by her talent. Cancer took her when I was 14 and I have created many kinds of art in her memory since then. A fantastic Art teacher in high school gave me the confidence I needed to be a creative. I minored in Art at Arkansas Tech University, but being a Mom of 3 beautiful children did not allow much time for art. After my children were grown, I created a small home-based business called Awakening Designs, LLC. The name reflects a season of my life where I experienced not only an awakening of my new identity (life after focusing mostly on raising my children), but also a spiritual awakening with my faith. Prior to this I had many side hustles doing custom work like refurbishing furniture, graphic design, vinyl work, floral arrangements, wreaths, signs and more. I have an exceptional eye for design and enjoy creating beautiful, fun, and meaningful art. In the spring of 2024, I took a Silversmithing class at the Arkansas Craft School in Mt. View Arkansas. I absolutely fell in love with the art and craft of metals. Now I focus mostly on my jewelry with an emphasis on nature, remembrance, and spiritual life. I’m a huge Van Gogh fan and I love sunflowers, butterflies, and swirls and I feel as if this echoes in my work. My ideal customer is someone who values family, connections, and heirloom pieces that can be passed through generations.
